Geoff Corbett, formerly President and Chief Operating Officer of ANC Rental Corporation – International, is Managing Director of Abrams Consulting International – Europe, Middle East, and Africa, (ACI-EMEA), a business unit of New York based Abrams Consulting Group, Inc.
ACI provides specialized management consulting and market research services to the global auto rental, commercial fleet management and leasing, and allied travel service and transportation industries.
Before joining ACI, Mr Corbett served as President and Chief Operating Officer of ANC Rental Corporation – International, where he was responsible for building the National and Alamo car rental brands in Europe, Africa, Middle East. During his tenure from October 1997 to December 1999, he orchestrated the successful acquisition of EuroDollar Plc, the concurrent integration of Alamo Europe, and the creation of the industry’s first multi-branded auto-rental organization in Europe, featuring the Alamo, National, and Guy Salmon brands. These three systems were operated by a network of licensees and corporately-owned locations spanning 39 countries.
Prior to returning to Europe in 1996 to take the helm of ANC, International, Corbett enjoyed a nine-year assignment in the U.S.A. with National Car Rental System Inc. From 1987 to 1992 he was one of two Senior Vice-Presidents with operational responsibility for all U.S. domestic operations. In 1992 he was promoted to Executive Vice President with responsibilities for Corporate and Travel Industry Sales, Marketing, Reservations, Corporate Communications, Revenue Management, and Licensee Development –during this period he worked closely with Jay Alix and Partners on the successful financial turnaround of National Car Rental prior to it’s divestiture by General Motors in 1995.
Corbett has held C.E.O. positions at Avis Rentacar U.K., Wakefield Fortune Travel, and Hertz Rent a Car (Australia). During his term of office at Avis U.K.from 1982 to 1987 the Company won every Travel Trade award available, and he was a member of the Senior Management Team which launched Avis Europe on the London Stock Exchange.
During his career in auto rental, which spans 32 years and 3 Continents, Corbett has actively participated on many auto rental industry associations, and is a past member of the “Auto Rental News Advisory Board”. An executive graduate of the “Philip Crosby Quality College” he has lectured extensively on Quality Improvement processes.
